The Great Heartbreaks in Minnesota Vikings Football History

Seriously, where do I start?  Even though I wasn’t alive for it  Superbowl 1970 still cuts like a knife.  Sadly, Minnesota Vikings football history has plenty more where that came from.  Hmm…take the 1975 Superbowl or the other two Superbowl losses for that matter.

What Minnesota Vikings football fan will forget Darrin Nelson's dropped pass in the 1987 NFC Championship game?  Of course, don’t forget the more recent and still stinging 98 NFC Championship Game.

Now just to pile on a bit:  Remember when the Vikes could have drafted Marcus Allen, but opted for Darrin Nelson instead.  Darrin Nelson was a positive and decent member of the Minnesota Vikings football family, but he’s no Marcus Allen.

No mention of great heartbreaks in Minnesota Vikings football history would be complete without remembering the short lived Les Steckel era.  Or, living in fear knowing that Red McCombs was always plotting to move the team?

These are just some of the heartbreaks in Minnesota Vikings football history that popped into my mind.  Once you read My Least Favorite Team is My Favorite Team feel free to email me and tell me some of yours.
