Yet, not long thereafter Red McCombs started whining and crying about a new stadium. He would follow his bellows of “Purple pride, purple pride, purple pride” with a veiled threat about moving the team. It took Red McCombs a very short time to spend all of the good will he had built up with the fans and no one was particularly sorry to see him go.
